Man dies after exposure to asbestos
A man died after being exposed to asbestos at the start of his working life about 50 years ago.
David William Jefferies, from Holyhead Road, Wellington, Telford, was a self-employed carpenter and in later life a baker.
It was when he worked as a carpenter and joiner in the 1970s that he was exposed to asbestos, an inquest into his death heard yesterday.
He was diagnosed with mesothelioma and made a successful claim in November last year.
Mr Jefferies, 74, died on July 3 and his cause of death was metastatic malignant mesothelioma.
Coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, John Ellery, recorded a conclusion of industrial disease at the inquest at Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
