Driver caught at the wheel outside his Telford home handed 16-month road ban for smoking cannabis

A driver from Telford who was caught at the wheel after smoking cannabis has been banned from the road for 16 months.

Waqar Hussain, 26, was in a Vauxhall Astra when he was pulled over outside his home, in Chapel Terrace, Wrockwardine Wood, Telford, on June 16.

The town's magistrates court heard that he was arrested after giving a positive roadside test. A subsequent blood sample showed he had 6.3 microgrammes of the drug in his system. The legal limit is two.

Unemployed Hussain admitted an offence of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.

For the offence he was also fined £120, ordered to pay costs £135 and victims' surcharge £30.
