Telford MP Lucy Allan talks to Home Secretary about CSE support group The Holly Project
Telford's MP Lucy Allan met with the Home Secretary to discuss funding for a support group for victims of child sexual exploitation.
Sajid Javid MP has made tackling child sexual exploitation a key issue for his department and has ordered research into ‘cultural drivers’ of grooming gangs.
During the meeting, the Home Secretary was able to suggest some funding options which are available for The Holly Project to apply for such as Building a Stronger Britain Together and the Early intervention youth fund.
The Holly Project is run by CSE survivors from Telford and Wrekin in partnership with Wellington YMCA. It aims to offer a safe place for people who have experienced the trauma and impact of CSE.
Ms Allan said: "I am grateful to the Home Secretary for pledging action on this horrendous crime.
"I was pleased to have the opportunity to highlight the fantastic work of The Holly Project and to raise the case of a Telford victim.
"I am keen to see the Telford Inquiry get underway so that victims and families get the answers they deserve and it was useful to discuss this with the Home Secretary."
