The non-venomous corn snake was discovered by Sergeant Dan Taylor in the Bowring Park off Haygate Road, Wellington at about 1.10pm today.

The park was cordoned off by PC Matt Corfield and PCSO Alex Pittam while the RSPCA arranged to collect it.

A police officer posted about the snake on social media alongside a stock image.
