Telford crash driver four times the alcohol limit
A driver arrested in Telford after colliding with a fence and car was found to be more than four times the legal alcohol limit.
Police said the driver was stopped by officers in Wellington at lunchtime on Friday.
The Operational Police Control unit for Shropshire tweeted that a breath test showed a reading of 154 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
A spokesman said the driver had been offered help through the #MORSE referral scheme for drink and drug drivers.
A safer roads initiative #MORSE - Make our Roads Safer for Everyone - is funded by West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion. It aims to reduce the number of road traffic offences being committed on the roads throughout West Mercia, looking holistically at the individual, focusing support around the individual’s need.
Referrals can be made by the West Mercia Police Operation Snap team who target individuals who are at greater risk of committing a road traffic offence, through routes such as drug and alcohol agencies, and local colleges and anyone concerned about an individual’s driving behaviour can refer onto the service. Those convicted of drink or drug drive offences can also be referred.
