Spring date for play area and allotments

Homeowners on a new estate are calling on developers to speed up work to create promised allotments and a children’s play area.

Upset residents at the Taylor Wimpey Caddies Field development, in Wellington, who moved into their new homes more than two years ago say they are still waiting for the communal gardens plots to be made available.

Meanwhile, the playground has been partly built but remains fenced off, meaning families have been unable to use it.

In response, Taylor Wimpey said both amenities would be open for the residents by late spring.

Mother-of-three Carly Underwood, of Wiseman Crescent, said: “Having a playground on the estate for our three children was what sold the house to us. Two-and-a-half years after moving in, it’s still not open.

“It’s been completed but fenced off for over a year and my children have had to look at it for all that time knowing it’s there but for some unknown reason they can’t use it.”

In a statement, Taylor Wimpey said: “We currently anticipate that both the play area and allotments will be opened by late spring.”
