Ali Nawaz, 30, of Victoria Avenue, Wellington, was pulled over by West Mercia Police at junction 7 of the M54 at around 1pm on March 22 this year, Telford magistrates heard.

The court was told officers stopped Nawaz's Seat Leon as the driver was registered as disqualified from driving.

Kate Price prosecuting said officers then smelled cannabis and asked for a sample of saliva, which later revealed Nawaz had 10mg of the psychoactive substance THC in his blood stream - the legal limit is 2mg.
