Football club to close part of its ground for today's fixture because of continuing problems from some supporters
A football club has 'reluctantly' decided to close a part of its ground because of problems caused by spectators.
Supporters of AFC Telford United will see that part of the East Terrace at the New Bucks Head stadium in Wellington will be closed off during this afternoon's Southern League Central game against Needham Market.
The club said in a statement: "After several recent incidents on the East Terrace and following health and safety advice, the club has reluctantly decided to close part of the East Terrace on match days to protect ourselves from any further fines and sanctions from the FA.
"There have been several occasions in recent months when we have received negative FA/match official reports, which have resulted in an Independent Regulatory Commission closely monitoring our games in liaison with the FA.
"We acknowledge that it is a very small section of spectators that are causing the problems and we have already issued some behaviour agreements recently but the problems have persisted despite warnings online and over the PA system."
