Fresh appeal after elderly woman injured in country road accident
A fresh appeal for information has been launched about an accident on a country road which left an elderly woman seriously injured.
The 62-year-old woman was driving a red Citroen Berlingo along the B4368 at Newcastle-on-Clun in south Shropshire when she was involved in a collision with a black BMW Coupe travelling in the opposite direction.
Both cars were badly damaged following the crash, which happened shortly before 10am on Wednesday (JULY 2). The woman driving the Citroen was airlifted to hospital in Stoke with multiple injuries.
Officers investigating the crash have now issued a fresh appeal for people who saw the accident or the circumstances leading up to it to get in touch.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "The Citroen Berlingo was travelling along the B4368 from Newcastle towards Clun when it collided with the BMW which was travelling in the opposite direction. There was extensive damage to both vehicles.
"The driver of the Citroen Berlingo, a 62-year-old woman from Craven Arms, received multiple injuries as a result of the impact and was airlifted to Stoke hospital.
"She suffered serious injuries. The driver of the BMW, a 37-year-old man from Telford was treated for minor injuries."
