Shropshire villagers have complained about speeding motorists at weekends, with some travelling at more than 80mph.Some motorists and riders taking the A458 Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury road have been recorded travelling in excess of 80mph as they enter Cressage - sparking concerns over the safety of children.
Police are working to tackle the problem and advising villagers to set a good example by driving carefully themselves. They are also asked to report information to the police.
Councillor Charles Armstrong said the situation had been getting better but there were still motorists flouting the law.
"You still get the occasional idiot. We would like to see a bit more enforcement from the traffic sector," he said.
He said drivers were not always slowing down sufficiently as they entered Cressage, with motorcyclists in particular failing to reduce their speed to the village's 30mph limit.
He added: "We do have a problem with having a straight mile.
"There is a motorbike problem, mainly at weekends."
He stressed, however, that the problem was not entirely due to motorbikes, and that it was important all drivers took notice of the 30mph speed limit in the village.
He also said that measures to reduce speeding had been working.
"It's working, but it could always work better with a bit more enforcement," he said.
At a community meeting in March, Constable Larry Smith said work on the problem had been taking place for the last four years. He promised to report back on the situation this year.
He said it was important the police had the full support and co-operation of the public.
Laura Owen, of Shropshire County Council, said "It is up to the police to enforce the rules."
