Hundreds of rally enthusiasts will descend on Mid Wales next year to celebrate the annual Bulldog International Rally.

Motor sport fans in the Welshpool area are being urged to turn out and support the event when it hits the town on April 2.

Welshpool hosted the event earlier this year, when thousands of supporters turned out.

It was hailed a success by organisers who say they will be pleased to come back again next year.

Competitors and support crews will be turning out on Welshpool's livestock market site at Buttington Cross.

While organisers are keen to encourage rally enthusiasts to go along, they also want to reassure the town's general population that it is nothing to be worried about.

Welshpool Town Council has welcomed the event and said it planned to celebrate its arrival.

Robert Robinson, council clerk, said: "We are not yet fully aware what attractions will be here for the 'special event' but whatever it is it should be fun."
