Shropshire driver Roger Moran powered his way through the torrential rain to win both rounds of the British Hill Climb Championship at Loton Park.

Moran, of Ludlow, dominated both British Championship run-offs at a rain-lashed Loton Park on Sunday with two superb winning runs and taking fastest time of the day in his shared Gould GR61X single-seater racing car.

Former double national champion and current 2011 championship leader Scott Moran couldn't match the excellent times set by his father in the abysmal conditions and could only finish runner-up in both runs.

Scott's closest rival Trevor Willis, driving an OMS, didn't score any championship points at all on the day after spinning out in the morning session and missing the cut in the afternoon.

Former rally driver Roger Moran, who was champion in 1997, and now moves to second place in this season's standings showed his class in the wet conditions, as did fellow rally man Eynon Price who took third place in both rounds in his Force PC 1600 racing car.

Surprise of the day was Mike Manning, driving a special four-wheel-drive Rallycross Ford Puma, who took fourth and fifth places.

With sunshine and showers dictating poor practice and qualifying times on Saturday, several competitors decided not to run at all in the heavy and constant rain on Sunday and surprisingly only a few cars were damaged on the wet track.
