Jaguar Land Rover hitting new heights

Jaguar Land Rover is still breaking its own sales records up nearly 20 percent globally in 2013 and hitting new highs in 38 different countries.

That is good news for the British car industry and even better news for Wolverhampton with the major new JLR complex underway.

Group sales director Andy Goss said that sales have now almost doubled since 2009 and supply is struggling to keep up with demand. "We are addressing that issue, however," he said.

"We are also completing a new engine manufacturing centre in Wolverhampton which will start production of new four cylinder petrol and diesel engines which will go into new Jaguars from 2015."

For years Jaguar Land Rover was in the doldrums with reliability issues, lack of forward focus and ownership changes which did little to improve the situation.

But when the current Indian owners took over that all changed. Their business acumen with the special skills held by Jaguar Land Rover saw the phoenix rise from the ashes.

Co-operation can work but not necessarily with our closest allies in Europe.
