Over 70 cars were on display at the inaugural event which was staged to raise money towards funding a large plan for 25 further Alms Houses to be built at Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury, in addition to the three sets already run by the company.

Competitors and officials of Hagley Car Club provided a selection of various classic and competition cars including a Lola Porsche, Alfa Romeo, TR7, Ford Cosworth, Jaguar XK and a Fraser Nash.

Jane Salisbury of the club said: "We were only too pleased to offer our support to this charity event by providing a selection of serious competition machines to join in with the many beautiful classic cars from over the years on display.

"This is a superb location with large grounds fronting the very impressive hall and an ideal place to showcase the wide range of cars on show and we look forward to helping this become a successful annual event with our fellow motoring enthusiasts."
