British Championship drivers at Loton Park
The UK's top speed hill climb drivers and cars will be descending on Loton Park near Shrewsbury this weekend (June 13 and 14) when the premier county motorsport venue hosts rounds of the MSA British Hill Championships.
With a capacity entry, young Tenbury Wells driver Alex Summers who shares the Gould GR61X racing car of five times and reigning champion Scott Moran, of Ludlow, will be hoping to extend his current lead in the points table, with Moran taking second spot.
The weekend also combines rounds of the hotly contested Midland Hill Climb Championship featuring classes for sports, classics, saloons and racing cars.
Over 20 cars will be taking part each day in the Porsche Club Speed Championship, featuring Carrera, Boxster, 924, 911 and Cayman cars.
County drivers entered include Ken Evans of Nesscliffe in a Caterham 7, Tony Adams of Bridgnorth in a Lotus Elise, Trevor Lacey of Shifnal in a Renault Clio, Steve Bailey of Shrewsbury in a Peugeot 205, Martin Jones of Tennbury Wells in a Force PT, Bernie Kevill of Ludlow in an OMS 28, Roy Holder of Llanfyllin in a Renault Clio and Richard Thorne of Ludlow in a Jamun.
A 'run-off' for the fastest 12 cars entered into the national championship will take place at the end of both morning and afternoon sessions.
Practice and qualifying takes place on Saturday with timed competition runs in programme order with full commentary from 9.15 on Sunday. Parking and refreshments are on site and accompanied children under 16 are admitted free.
