No more Mr Toad! Take the Christmas drive quiz

Mr Toad was well known for his bad driving. His reckless interest in motor cars led him before the court for stealing and crashing a car.

It's rare to see a motorist as bad as the Toad Hall character but what about those dangerous drivers on our roads who tailgate, hog the motorway centre lane in a trance like state or pull out without looking, totally unaware of other road users.

Nip through traffic lights on amber ? Well it was just changing. Drive over the speed limit, make a wrong manoeuvre, or come off a traffic island without signalling – driving mistakes which lead to collisions.

Driver error is the major cause of most crashes each year with a recorded 1,775 people killed and almost 200,000 injured in 2014. In the whole of Shropshire there were 18 people killed and 1,216 injured in 2014 alone.

So how good is your driving knowledge ? Take the Christmas and New Year driving quiz. You can refresh your knowledge with the Highway Code take an advanced driving course or get your company to improve your driving skills. Employers are switching to online road safety education such as TTC DriverProtect to cut the chance of staff being in a traffic collision while driving for work.

The TTC Group is a leading UK road safety education organisation, from Telford, Shropshire, which educates 320,000 qualified drivers and other road users each year in the classroom and on the road as part of police and local authority road safety schemes to reduce casualties nationwide. They educate drivers in your area. Visit www.ttcgroup-uk.com to learn more.

Merry Christmas from the TTC Group and safe driving in 2016!
