Striking soft-top comes as the fifth model in the range, offering a four-seat open-air experience to motorists

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its latest addition to the E-Class range – the Cabriolet – taking the total to five.

Offering four seats in a stylish and raked body, the E-Class Cabriolet shares many styling touches with its coupe stablemate.

The E-Class Cabriolet’s overall ride height has been lowered by 15 millimetres compared with the saloon, which works with the car’s standard 19-inch alloy wheels to emphasise its sporty appearance.

The car’s fabric soft-top is available in dark brown, dark blue, dark red or black, complementing the car’s extensive range of exterior colours. The roof can also be raised or lowered in just 20 seconds when travelling at speeds of up to 31mph.

Britta Seeger, member of the board of management at Daimler AG, recently said of the new drop-top: “The passion for extraordinary vehicles, which we share with our customers, is reflected in our new E-Class Cabriolet in a unique way. It is a car that lets people enjoy comfort and luxury in the open air.”

Inside, the E-Class Cabriolet is available with two 12.3-inch displays, both of which sit underneath a single sheet of glass that helps to give the entire dashboard a sweeping look.

As standard, the E-Class Cabriolet comes with a seven-inch colour display cluster, as well as a central 8.4-inch display.

A range of engines will be available from launch and, though yet to be announced, are likely to mirror those found in the Coupe.
