A new Nissan Micra trim targeted at audiophiles has been announced.

The Japanese manufacturer has teamed up with audio specialists Bose to create the Bose Personal Edition. Based on the range-topping Tekna grade, it comes with various unique features – and with just 3,000 examples being made it’s sure to be exclusive.

An audio system has been built specifically for the new Micra, with twin speakers placed into the driver’s headrest. Nissan says this offers a ‘360-degree listening experience’ for the person behind the wheel.

Marc Mansell, vice-president of Bose Automotive Systems, said: “We engineered the Bose Personal sound system to deliver unexpectedly big sound from a limited number of components.

“Using just six high-performance speakers and our latest signal-processing technology, the system rewards Micra owners with a superior, fully customisable audio experience unlike anything else available today.”

It is available with two exterior colours – Enigma Black and Gunmetal Grey – with orange elements to make it stand out from the rest of the range. Black and orange stickers are also added to the roof and bonnet, while Bose badging appears on the B-pillars.

There are two engines available, in the form of the 0.9-litre petrol or 1.5-litre diesel – both are turbocharged and both produce 89bhp.

Pricing will be revealed closer to the car’s release date this summer.
