Audi and Porsche have announced they will cooperate on future vehicles.

The two German carmakers, both of which are members of the Volkswagen Audi Group, will cooperate even more closely in an effort to shape the mobility of the future.

Led by Rupert Stadler and Oliver Blume – the board of management chairmen of Audi AG and Porsche AG – this collaboration will allow both manufacturers to further develop in areas including electrification, digitization and autonomous driving.

Vehicle platforms, modules and components will be shared and representatives from each brand will co-manage projects. In the coming months, joint teams will prepare the specific areas of cooperation and define the roadmap as far as 2025, a release from the manufacturers said.

Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management of Audi AG, said: “The best brains of both companies will together set the technical course for the future.

“We are united by many shared values, above all, by our pursuit of the best solutions and the best offerings for our customers.”

Oliver Blume, chairman of the board of management of Porsche AG added: “Together, we will make faster progress in the race for the mobility of the future. We will utilise the expertise of both companies and take advantage of synergies.”

However, he said that while the two brands will “cooperate wherever it makes sense”, each would be careful to maintain its separate identity.
