Vauxhall reveals most powerful car in company’s history
Vauxhall has revealed the VXR8 GTS-R, the final version of the company’s flagship car.
Production of the Holden Commodore comes to a halt this year, meaning the end for the VXR8 as it forms the base for Vauxhall’s muscle car.
To achieve those figures, the engine has been remapped and fitted with a high-flow air filter.
Two transmission options are available for the GTS-R, with buyers having the choice between a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.
To deal with the improved performance, the car retains the torque vectoring system from the standard VXR8 GTS, including a limited slip differential, but with an improved braking system that includes six-piston calipers and 410mm discs up front. Additionally, there’s also new 20-inch forged alloy rims at the front of the car.
Visual changes to the VXR8 include a fresh face thanks to a new front fascia, splitter, wings and carbon fibre vents. At the rear, there’s a new-look diffuser, a carbon-fibre upper section on the rear wing and quad exhaust pipes with diamond-shaped exhaust tips. This diamond design is continued through to the interior with the Alcantara and leather seat trim.
Prices for the VXR-8 GTS-R start at £74,500 and just 15 will be available in the UK.
