BWM i Vision Dynamics reveals its future of electric mobility

All-electric four-door Gran Coupe has a top speed of more than 120mph

BMW revealed its i Vision Dynamics four-door Gran Coupe electric concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Capable of hitting 60mph in under four seconds and carrying on to a top speed of 120mph, the efficient saloon also has a claimed all-electric range of 373 miles.

Harald Krüger, chairman of the board of management at BMW AG, said: “At the BMW Group, the future of electric mobility has already arrived.”

Slated to take on the i5 name, slotting in between the i3 hatch and i8 sports coupe, the concept retains BMW’s iconic kidney grille – though heavily re-imagined. It draws many design cues from the Vision Next 100 Concept revealed in 2016.

This is combined with freestanding LED lights to give the BMW an imposing look.

Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president for BMW Group Design, said: “With the i3 and i8 we have designed a revolutionary city car and a revolutionary sports car.

“And now the BMW i Vision Dynamics is combining electric mobility with the core values of BMW: dynamism and elegance. We are therefore demonstrating how the product range and the design language of BMW i can be evolved further into other concepts.”

The production-ready version is set to arrive in showrooms in 2021.
