McLaren has revealed an exceptionally low-volume special edition version of its most practical supercar.

Built by the Woking-based manufacturer’s Special Operations division (MSO), which handles customers’ bespoke requests, the 570GT Black Edition is covered in black body panels, black upholstery and carbon-fibre trim pieces.

The black theme continues inside, where the upholstery, central tunnel and dashboard is fitted with a combination of leather and Alcantara. As standard, the Black Edition gets a tinted, UV-filtering panoramic glass roof, which can be upgraded to the firm’s electrochromic panoramic roof. For £4,750 extra, it offers up to five different levels of tint that the driver can select on the move thanks to ‘smart’ glass technology.

“Black is a colour associated with elegance, power and authority whilst also surrounded by a certain air of mystery. The end result remains true to the luxurious nature of the 570GT but we managed to further amplify its sleek, sporty character with a wealth of new MSO Defined options which I am sure will delight discerning owners.”

The McLaren 570GT is available to order now, priced from £179,950. Just 100 will be made available worldwide with deliveries beginning in the summer.
