Audi has confirmed it will build a four-door e-tron GT sports EV, having unveiled a teaser image of the prototype.

The car is part of the German manufacturer’s “electrification roadmap”, which will see the brand working with Porsche and Volkswagen to create cars tailored for electric driving.

The e-tron GT will be a “highly dynamic” performance car with purely electric drive and will enter production at the firm’s Böllinger Höfe site near Neckarsulm, Germany.

Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of management of Audi AG, said: “We interpret sportiness very progressively with our fully electric e-tron GT, and this is how we will take our high-performance brand Audi Sport into the future.”

Later this year, the Audi e-tron SUV will be launched — the brand’s first all-electric series production vehicle. This model supports fast charging at up 150kW, meaning it can be recharged for long distance use in the space of half an hour.
