Vauxhall’s OnStar services to be switched off in 2020
British manufacturer confirms GM-owned connectivity service OnStar will no longer work in its vehicles from the end of 2020, with the technology to stop appearing in new cars from 2019

Connectivity service OnStar will no longer work in Vauxhall vehicles from December 31, 2020, the manufacturer has confirmed.
The feature, which provides onboard wifi, emergency response and a variety of on-demand services, will also not be fitted to any of the brand’s new cars from January 2019.
OnStar is owned by General Motors – the former owner of Vauxhall – with the move the latest revelation following Groupe PSA’s acquisition of the British firm and its continental counterpart Opel.
“OnStar will continue to deliver the current set of services through to 31st December 2020, but OnStar will not be fitted to any new vehicle from January 2019.”
The OnStar service was introduced to Vauxhall vehicles in 2015 – having been available on General Motors cars in North America since 1996.

The statement continued: “Opel/Vauxhall remains fully committed to its well-established role as a leader in connectivity services and will share further details on future connectivity solutions at the appropriate time.”
