Alfa Romeo announces new five-year warranty for Giulia, Stelvio and Giulietta
New 5-3-5 package includes five years each of warranty and roadside assistance, plus three of free servicing
In a bold move for a brand historically associated with unreliability, Alfa Romeo has announced a new warranty package for its Giulia, Stelvio and Giulietta ranges.
Named 5-3-5, it consists of a five-year/75,000-mile warranty, three years of free scheduled servicing in accordance with the manufacturer’s service schedule, and five years of complimentary breakdown cover.
Considering the Italian manufacturer is still the butt of many jokes thanks to years of poorly built and unreliable cars, it’s a clear show of confidence in its products. Alfa Romeo says the new warranty reflects newly improved standards at its plant in Cassino, Italy – the ‘cradle of the new generation of Alfa Romeo’.
The Cassino plant was opened in 1972 to build the Fiat 126 but underwent a €1.3bn (£1.04bn) makeover in 2014 to coincide with the start of Giulia production.
The investment in the current generation of Alfa Romeos has paid off, as the brand came second in the What Car? reliability index in 2017 – an impressive result.
Alfa’s confidence in its products only extends to those built at the Cassino factory, however. The 4C sports car and MiTo supermini, which are manufactured in Modena and Milan respectively, both retain three years of warranty.
The new warranty covers cars for five years or 75,000 miles, whichever comes first. It’s offered on all retail sales barring personal contract hire, on cars built after July 1, 2018. Free servicing covers the cost of parts, lubricants and labour on all scheduled services.
