Hyundai confirms new i30 N Line will start from £21,255

Racy trim level will give drivers a taste of the full-fat N hot hatchback without the associated running costs

Hyundai has confirmed full pricing and specs for its new i30 N Line trim. A step down from the N hot hatchback, i30 N Line models will compete with Ford’s Focus ST-Line and the Peugeot 308 GT-Line.

While the full-blown N gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine with up to 271bhp, things are rather more sedate in the N Line. It comes exclusively with Hyundai’s 138bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Thankfully for keen drivers, there have been a few changes elsewhere. N Line models receive tweaked suspension and brakes, while the engine has been tuned to offer a better throttle response.

Hyundai has endowed the N Line with a set of 16-inch front brakes over the 15-inch units you get on the standard car. The 18-inch alloy wheels are also wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, while the suspension has been stiffened up to give the N Line some of its bigger brother’s flair in the corners.

Visual changes include new front and rear bumpers, silver detailing and a dual-tip exhaust.

N Line trim will offer a high level of standard kit for its £21,255 starting price. All cars get front sports seats, a black headlining, air conditioning and privacy glass, plus an 8-inch touchscreen display with Apple Carplay and Android Auto functionality.

Step up to N Line + for an additional £2,000 and the i30 upgrades the cloth sports seats to heated leather and suede units with electrical adjustability, plus dual-zone climate control, LED headlights and sat-nav.

Adding the dual-clutch automatic transmission costs an extra £1,000. There are also a wide variety of metallic paint shades to choose from, including the i30 N’s signature Champion Blue.
