Hyundai previews N Option accessories range

South Korean firm announces new accessory line, bringing racy customisation options to its performance machines

Hyundai has revealed a new accessory line, bringing racy customisation options to its range of performance cars.

Dubbed N Option, a selection of upgrades set to be available have been showcased on the i30 N ‘N Option’ concept.

Giving this show car a distinctive look is the addition of a carbon-fibre rear wing, a bonnet made from the same material with integrated air vents, quad exhausts and a red surround for the grille. There’s also new 20-inch alloy wheels, wrapped with semi-slick performance tyres.

There’s also a unique matte paint specially made for the concept, although the firm hasn’t said if it will make the N Option catalogue.

The cabin benefits from a range of accessories, too. Black carbon accents have been added around the air vents and door handles, while the steering wheel has been given a new Alcantara finish. The material also appears on top of the dashboard, and around the lightweight bucket seats.

Completing the interior package is a set of new pedals and a ‘dynamic-looking’ gear stick, along with other undisclosed personalisation options.

Thomas Schemera, Hyundai’s executive vice president of high-performance vehicles, said: “With our N portfolio we are shaking up the competition, and bringing new performance and emotions for our customers.

“The development of our N vehicles is grounded in Motorsport and our engagement there is the pinnacle of N. The new i30 N Line and our i30 N ‘N Option’ show car illustrate our dual approach to customisation, making N available to a wider audience.”

Hyundai says N Option will be ‘launched in the near future’, but has not given any indication on pricing.

The firm currently offers one high-performance car — the i30 N hot hatch, which boasts an impressive 271bhp in top-spec ‘Performance’ grade. It’ll be joined by an N version of the i30 Fastback next year.
