Cupra has unveiled the full technical and performance data for its all-new Ateca.

As the first car to come from the newly-established performance brand, which has been spun-off Spanish firm Seat, the Ateca is likely to set the trend for future models from the company.

The high-performance SUV, priced from £35,900, uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that send 296bhp and 400Nm of torque through to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

It allows the Ateca to hit 60mph from a standing start in just five seconds before reaching a top speed of 152mph.

To help the Ateca cope with this performance, Cupra has added an independent front suspension system, along with adaptive suspension which allows the driver to tailor the car’s settings to their individual preferences.

Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, director of design, said: “The Cupra Ateca is the ultimate evolution of the Ateca, combining every aspect of our design language with the dynamic credentials that a high-performance vehicle needs, from its dominant front-end design, the flow over the entire body to the highly sculpted rear end.”

To help the Ateca stand out against the regular Seat version, Cupra has fitted a range of dynamic styling touches to the exterior of the car. These include full LED headlights, gloss black detailing on the roof rails, wing mirrors and front grille and 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels sat in front of black brake calipers.

All cars get copper-coloured Cupra logos at the front and rear of the vehicle, too.

Inside, each Ateca benefits from Alcantara-trimmed sports seats, as well as carbon-fibre-effect finishers. Keyless entry, an eight-inch infotainment system and wireless phone charger all come fitted as standard, too.
