More than 20,000 people register for new Porsche Taycan EV
All-new electric car is expected to launch in September
Porsche has revealed that more than 20,000 people have registered interest in its upcoming Taycan electric sports car.
The figure was revealed at the recent Geneva Motor Show, and each person who expressed interest in the model had to put down a payment of €2,500 (£2,154) in Europe.
The all-new Taycan is expected to make its full debut in September, with a full launch by the end of the year. It comes with a claimed 0-60mph time of 3.3 seconds, and is said to be able to cover 310 miles on a single charge. The all-new platform has been developed in partnership with fellow Volkswagen Group company Audi.
Detlev von Platen, member of the executive board for sales and marketing at Porsche AG “The overwhelming interest in the Taycan shows us that our customers and fans are just as excited about the first Porsche electric athlete as we are – and we’ve therefore increased our production capacities.
“The Taycan will be the most sporty (sic) and most technically advanced vehicle in its segment – a true Porsche.”
The Stuttgart-based sports car company has created an all-new facility to produce the Taycan, too.
