A thief managed to pull off a daring Hollywood-style heist by stealing a Ford Mustang Bullitt from the showroom by smashing through the dealership’s windows.

The theft was discovered by cleaning staff at Town and Country Ford in Evansville, Indiana. They became aware that something was wrong when they noticed that the two large plate-glass doors used for moving cars in and out of the showroom had been smashed.

The crook reportedly broke the window to an access door in order to get into the showroom, got in the car and drove right out by crashing through the glass.

Fortunately for the criminal, the showroom’s CCTV cameras didn’t capture even a moment of the incident – though the car was eventually recovered less than three hours after the theft was reported. It had been abandoned in the car park of a nearby apartment block.

Local station 14 News spoke to the dealer’s general manager, Larry Oldham. He said that though the showroom has security cameras set up, they did not capture the theft. “Our DVR was not working, and it’s been repaired now, but we don’t have video.

“They [police] are checking some other local businesses videos to see if they got anything.”

The Bullitt in question has been removed from Town and Country Ford’s inventory, but the dealer has said it intends to fix the damage and sell it at a reduced price.
