All-electric Ford Transit set to arrive in 2021
New zero-emissions van was revealed as part of the firm’s tech event in Amsterdam
Ford has given a glimpse of its upcoming all-electric Transit van, showcasing a concept vehicle at the firm’s GoFurther event in Amsterdam.
A camouflaged Transit all-electric concept graced the stage at the event, though despite the reveal, Ford didn’t give away too many specifics about the van.
It did, however, unveil another low-emissions concept – the Transit All-Electric Smart Energy Concept.
Configured as a ten-seater minibus, the vehicle is being used by Ford for testing purposes. It’s capable of a claimed all-electric range of 93 miles, thanks to a 55 kWh battery.
Though the manufacturer didn’t delve into details surrounding it, it did say that charging the batteries takes four hours.
It also benefits from some unique styling touches, such as the smoothed over grille, an illuminated Ford badge and a variety of ‘electric’ badges.
Inside, a huge central touchscreen showcases key information such as charge level, energy consumption and where the supplied energy is coming from – with the solar panels on the roof listed as one such source.
