Jenny's proof that the end of the world is not nigh
Okay, we got it wrong, but it isn't the end of the world. More like Llanymynech Hill, actually.
And putting us right was a lady who now lives in the Republic of Ireland - somewhat strangely, nobody living in Shropshire or Mid Wales who must see the landmark hill every day got in touch.
A photo we carried in Pictures From The Past recently showing dramatic cliffs and rock formations was, we ventured, most likely to be World's End, a beauty spot near Llangollen.
This prompted an email from over the water from Mrs Jenny Watters, who has affectionate memories of the border village of Llanymynech.
"I think this is Llanymynech Hill. I now live in the Republic of Ireland but I was born in Shrewsbury and I was brought up in Llanymynech," she told us.
And you know something, she might well be right. While the photo we carried does look a bit like World's End, a hunt on our archive turned up an old view in which Llanymynech Hill is rising in the background, and it does seem to be a better match.
Jenny tells us: "I am 66 years old and was born in Shrewsbury hospital but lived until the age of 21 on the Welsh side of the border in Llanymynech and I am a daughter of the Manse! My maiden name was Gunning and my father was the minister of the Presbyterian Church in Llanymynech from 1948 until 1983, although he continued to take services and so on until 2003 when he was 92 years old.
"He died in 2007 and my mother had died in 2004."
She added: "I was educated from 1962 to 1969 at Dr William's School, Dolgellau, and moved to Hampshire when I was 21. I then met my husband and we lived just outside Winchester until we moved to Bude in North Cornwall in 2004 - this was a long-held dream of my husband's.
"Sadly he died in November 2012 and I decided to move to be near, very near, my younger son and his family here in Ireland, about 50 miles south of Dublin. My eldest son lives in the UK with his wife and little boy.
"So, that is me. I do have a booklet which was produced in 2001 by Llanymynech and Pant Parish Council, compiled by Jennifer Crosier, who I have no knowledge of, called Llanymynech, Pant and Carreghofa Memories to which my mother Mrs Ironwy Gunning made several contributions. It is an interesting little read.
"Yes, I do have memories of the village and certainly regard it with affection."
