Putting names to faces in pageant poser
Mrs Chris Sheldon says she expects a few people have rung in to give us more details about this "mystery picture" which we carried in Pictures From The Past.
But actually, no - Mrs Sheldon, who has lived in Ketley all her life, is the only person to get in touch with any information so far.
While she cannot identify the particular event, which looks like it may date from around the 1950s, there are lots of people she recognises who she knows were in Ketley Women's Institute, so it looks like this was a Ketley WI event.
"They did things like that, putting a pageant on. They are all in Elizabethan costume. I don't know where it was, unless it was on the playing fields at Ketley."
Mrs Sheldon, who is 79 and whose maiden name is Pritchard, lives in Broadway. Neither she nor her mother were in the WI, but some of those on the picture are near neighbours and others are relatives.
Here we go, working from front left: "That's Mrs Elliott, who is still alive and well over 100. She lives in Cartlidge House, Oakengates.
"The next four were some of our neighbours in Broadway. They are Mrs Jones, Mrs Davies, Mrs Roberts, and Mrs Morris. Then there are two I am not sure of, the next is Mrs Bevan from The Rock, and then Peggy Hassall from Red Lake, and then unknown.
"On the back row, from the left, I'm not sure of the first one, then comes Mrs Lewis from Red Lake. The next person I know is the woman in the dark-framed glasses just right of centre, who was Mrs Merrington then, and then she remarried and became Mrs Buchanan, of Grove Road, Overdale.
"I'm not sure about the next three, and then there is an auntie, Blanche Pritchard, who lived in Grove Road, Overdale. The little lady next to her is Edie Hassall, sister-in-law to the other Hassall, who lived at Grove Road. Next and last in the row was a school nurse in Ketley. Her name was Miss Phillips. A very proud lady, she was.
"I'm sorry I can't tell you more."
