Wellington's mystery calendar girl for August 2018
Who's that girl?
This picture appears for August in a 2018 calendar produced by Raja Singh of Sofia's cafe in Wellington which features nostalgic views from the town.
And he would love to know more about this picture. All he knows is that she was a local town girl who sold milk and bread from her horse and cart.
The cart bears the words "Buy Millennium bread & flour, baked & sold by J.E. Owen."
Anyone with any information about the "mystery girl" can contact Raja at MyWellington2018Calendar@hotmail.com.
The calendar is being sold at various outlets locally with some of the profits going to charity.
Raja, who works front of house at the cafe, the family business in New Street, said: "I've always kept old original postcards of Wellington. I thought, why not put them all together in a calendar?"
The pictures date back as far as 1859 and there are some original pictures and postcards with messages which have the stamp dating back to the 1800s and 1900s. Among aspects featured are the Clifton cinema, Sidoli's cafe, and The Wrekin.
Raja hopes people will snap it up as a Christmas present to bring back memories of the days before Telford when Wellington was the main town in the area.
The calendar, costing £7.95, will be on sale in Wellington at retailers including Card Stop, Allums jewellers, The Salvation Army charity shop, Mark's barbers, The Plough Inn, and Sofia’s cafe. It can also be found on Ebay.
