Labour leadership hopeful Owen Smith to address Telford rally
Labour leadership hopeful Owen Smith will speak to party members in Shropshire.
The MP will visit Telford on Monday. He will address a rally of Labour members at Dawley Town Hall.
The MP, currently locked in a battle with leader Jeremy Corbyn to take control of the party, will appear at the venue at 3pm.
It comes after the current Labour leader pulled out of an appointment to speak in Oakengates earlier this week.
Local Labour party members were told that Mr Corbyn was not able to attend due to other commitments, including a live TV debate with Mr Smith.
Mr Corbyn, who was brought up in Shropshire and attended Adams Grammar School, said he already has an overwhelming mandate from members to lead the party.
But Mr Smith, the MP for Pontypridd, has claimed the leader has lost the confidence of the party's MPs.
