£280 million maintenance contract on offer in Telford
Telford & Wrekin Council is advertising a £280 million highways maintenance contract.
The council has put forward a notice for the deal, saying procurement will start officially in September.
The contract could be worth up to £280m if the initial seven-year agreement is extended for another seven.
Under the deal, the winner will be given responsibility for overseeing both reactive and planned maintenance on areas including roads, footways, gully cleansing and drainage.
The contract will also allow for the appointed firm to take on minor road improvement schemes for the council. Street lighting and traffic lighting will not be included.
Emily Taylor, a spokeswoman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "This is the replacement of our current highways maintenance contractor that is TWS.
"The TWS contract ends in 2019 so this is the start of the procurement process in the run up to this.
"This will be for our reactive maintenance, fixing potholes, repair assets along with winter maintenance and delivery of capital schemes, such as resurfacing, footway improvements, etc."
