UKIP deputy chair will not contest Shrewsbury seat
UKIP's deputy chairman has said she will not be standing as the UKIP candidate for Shrewsbury and Atcham.
Suzanne Evans has said she has been asked by party leader Paul Nuttall to write the party's manifesto, a project she did for the last general election in 2015.
She said that UKIP as a party were looking forward to getting "stuck in" to campaigning for the upcoming election on June 8.
She said: "I would love to stand again but I have been asked by Paul Nuttall to write the party manifesto so I am not going to be able to.
"Writing the manifesto in 2015 almost killed me and now I will have to write it in about four or five weeks so I will not have time."
She said this year's manifesto will contain some of UKIP's old policies, along with a number of "radical" new ideas. She it would contain UKIP's position on integration, immigration and the NHS.
She said: "The Conservatives have actually taken a lot of policies from the last UKIP manifesto, you could actually call the UKIP 2015 manifesto the Tory handbook.
"We will be using some of the points from 2015 but we also going to address integration in Britain."
