New-look Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet unveiled at annual meeting

The leader of Telford & Wrekin Council has announced his new-look cabinet and their areas of responsibility at tonight's annual council meeting.

Councillor Shaun Davies, who will continue as leader, unveiled the new positions, following the mayor making ceremony.

He will also serve as cabinet member for neighbourhood services, the pride programme and events.

Councillor Richard Overton will continue as deputy leader and will be cabinet member for housing and enforcement. He will also be cabinet champion for the crisis network.

Councillor Paul Watling will be cabinet member for children’s and adult's early help and support. He will also be the cabinet's older person champion.

Councillor Lee Carter will be cabinet member for finance, commercial services and economic development.

Councillor John Minor is a new cabinet member whose brief will cover leisure, green spaces and parks.

Outgoing mayor Councillor Rae Evans is also a new cabinet member whose brief will cover customer Services, tourism and partnerships.

Councillor Angela McClements will be cabinet member for transport, infrastructure and broadband. She will also be the cabinet's White Ribbon champion.

Councillor Shirley Reynolds is a new cabinet member whose brief will cover education and skills.

While councillor Arnold England will be cabinet member for communities, health and wellbeing. This will include being chairman of the Telford & Wrekin Health and Wellbeing Board.

Councillor Liz Clare leaves the cabinet after holding various posts since 2011 to take up a role as chair of the council's Standards Board.

Councillor Hilda Rhodes, after being a cabinet member for five of the last six years, leaves to become chair of the council's Planning Committee, and Councillor Gilly Reynolds has served as a cabinet member for the last two years and is now leaving the cabinet to undertake a teacher training course from September.
