Former Tory joins the ranks of Telford Labour group
A former Conservative councillor has moved over to the Labour party.
Councillor Stefan Heighway who was the sole Conservative councillor on Great Dawley Town Council is to join the Labour Party.
Councillor Heighway left the party and had been standing as an independent, but has now moved parties.
He said: "I want to do my part as a Labour councillor to stand up for our hospital, stand up for fairer funding and stand up for investment”
Telford labour leader, Councillor Shaun Davies welcomed Stefan to the party.
He said: "“Stefan, since his election as a Councillor in 2015, has worked hard to stand up for the interests of Dawley, and I am delighted that he is joining us to make Dawley, Telford and Wrekin a better place to live work, and visit."
