Also speaking at the event, which was attended by more than 50 people and provided them with overview of the current Brexit process, was West Midlands MEP Daniel Dalton.

Ms Allan said: “The Prime Minister is trying to deliver what the people wanted. Most people in Telford recognise we are going to leave the European Union (EU).

“They want Brexit to happen – they voted for it as they believed it was the best for the country.

“MPs are no longer remainers or leavers now. They have accepted outcome and now we are trying to deliver.

“Brexit does have to go ahead, we voted for it. Brexit is going to happen, we will leave the EU and we will make it a success. We will get a good deal.”

She added: “Theresa May is focused on delivering a pragmatic solution.

“Those who voted to leave the EU had a high vision of what the UK could be.”

Mr Dalton said: “It is very unhelpful anyone who is suggesting a second referendum.

“In Brussells they don’t really understand why we voted to leave the EU and they think we will change our minds.”

The event also provided the opportunity to ask questions on topics including the customs union, the UK’s position and influence as a non-EU member, the impact and opportunity on financial services, live exports and the European single market.
