Former Newport mayor Roy Scammell dies
Former Newport mayor Roy Scammell has died.
Mr Scammell was elected to Newport Town Council in May 2007 and was town mayor for three years.
He also served as a borough councillor and was part of the Newport Regeneration Partnership.
Mr Scammell was elected onto the West Ward at first, and he also became a Telford & Wrekin councillor for four years, where he served the North Ward.
His funeral will take place on April 25 from 10.30am at Telford Crematorium.
A wake will then be held at The Pheasant, in Upper Bar, Newport.
