The issue was discussed by cabinet in Shirehall

The news comes after the authority received more than 1,000 complaints over the last financial year.

The 1,119 complaints to the authority formed 51 per cent of all feedback, while there were also 448 comments and 541 compliments, according to a report which went to Shropshire Council's cabinet yesterday.

The number of complaints rose by 21 per cent compared to the year 2016/17.

Councillor Steve Charmley, deputy leader and portfolio holder for corporate and commercial support, said: "There was one line which stands out which is about the weather we've had and the plethora of potholes."

Lib Dem's Hannah Fraser said she has had issues with the council communicating, and asks residents to tell her if problems have been resolved rather than waiting for the council to update her.

She said: "I think there's areal issue with communication about complaints.

"Quite a lot of what comes into my inbox on this issue is people saying they haven't had an answer but also as a councillor I ask residents to tell me if the problem has been fixed as I won't be told if it's been fixed.

"The right people need to send a quick email to say this has been done.

"There's been a big spike in complaints about highways and street scene and a lot of it is to do with people not knowing.

"Issues have taken months when they should have taken weeks or weeks when they should have taken days."

Councillor Charmley replied: "Hopefully it will be addressed going forward."
