'Broxit': Telford & Wrekin boss open to Broseley switching from Shropshire Council
Telford & Wrekin Council's leader said he is open to the possibility of Broseley breaking away from Shropshire Council to join his borough - in a move being referred to as 'Broxit'.
'Disgusted' Broseley Town Council is exploring its options for switching after what councillors call unfair funding rules, and Shaun Davies of Telford & Wrekin appeared to support the idea in principle.
Broseley's mayor, councillor Michael Burton, said the town council will discuss the proposition next week.
He said the town wanted access to £460,000 of money in the town's local Community Infrastructure Levy fund, which has come from developers who have built homes and projects in Broseley.
Shropshire Council has said the money should first be used for 'critical infrastructure' in line with the 'council's statutory functions', and that the policy has been place since 2015.

Broseley councillors have insisted they were never told that was the policy and may not have approved building projects if they knew the money would not be available to them.
And Mr Davies said: "I’ve got family who live in Broseley and spent a lot of my time as a child there.
"It’s a fantastic community and if they felt they would like to join Telford and Wrekin I would be interested to understand how that would work in practice.
"I look forward to hearing the view of residents there as part of the review."
If the change does go ahead, it would mean council tax and responsibility for roads and schools switching to Telford & Wrekin.
Broseley Town Council will discuss the idea at a meeting on Tuesday.
