Newport elects its new mayor
A Shropshire town elected its new mayor this week.
Newport Town Council announced at its annual meeting on Wednesday that Councillor Lyn Fowler had been unanimously elected mayor for the forthcoming year.
She represents the East ward and has previously served as mayor in 2016 and 2017.
She stated her delight to have the support of fellow council members and expressed her desire to do the best for all residents of Newport. Her deputy for the year will be Councillor Ian Perry.
Outgoing mayor Councillor Peter Scott wished her all the best and pledged his full support.
