I’m proud to represent the place I call home as a town councillor. We’ve led the campaign for greater access to GP appointments in our town and fought the closure of the local post office. We get on with the job of fighting for residents.

I will continue to campaign hard to reverse the proposed closure of our 24/7 A&E and the Women’s & Children’s Centre at the PRH and save this vitally important part of the National Health Service in our community.

An enthusiastic community campaigner, I believe that residents deserve a voice in their community. I’m accessible, active and will always be ready to support residents.

Together, if elected, we will:

  • Tackle speeding and reckless drivers on our main roads. Secure more funding for local roads and footpaths.

  • Fight for more funding for Wellington Centre.

  • Campaign for better GP services for local residents.

Together on Thursday, May 2, let’s vote to protect, care and invest in the place we call home.

Terry Kiernan (incumbent), Conservative

As a resident of more than 30 years, I am proud to have represented the Admaston and Bratton community on both parish and borough councils. I hope residents can see that, by working together with community groups and fellow Conservative councillors, I have been able to secure a number of improvements for our neighbourhood. For example, together with my fellow trustees of Admaston House, we have achieved a significant reduction in on-street car parking by the establishment of Admaston House car park. As part of our on-going improvement work, we are about to commence a £150,000 refurbishment of the second floor which will provide an expanded community facility and provide a lift, enabling access for all.

One of my key concerns is appropriate development. I know there is a need for additional homes in our borough – especially for those starting out in life – but it is essential new developments do not have a negative impact on our community, for example there must be adequate provision for our children to attend local primary and secondary schools. A Conservative-controlled council can and will bring about change in the borough. I seek your support so I can play my part in delivering our commitments to bring about this much-needed change.

I have lived in the locality all my life. I am currently studying for a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Wolverhampton University’s Priorslee campus. As a local resident I am in a good position to see what is required.

  • Keep residents informed regarding the proposed medical centre in Brandon Avenue, and express their concerns to the council.

  • Speeding: some areas need addressing – vehicle-activated speed signs could be positioned wherever appropriate.

  • Roads and footpaths: potholes can cause damage to our cars and footpaths a trip hazard. I will chase the council until these are repaired.

  • Campaigning to retain full services at the PRH.

  • Campaigning to improve road infrastructure, in particular with regard to the increased traffic that will come from development of the old sugar beet factory site.

  • Policing – none of the new officers promised will be stationed in Telford and Wrekin in spite of rising council tax. I will fight for more visible police in our area.

I believe a councillor must engage with residents. I will be responsive to your concerns and act on them. In addition, I will produce a regular newsletter for residents keeping you informed with progress on issues affecting our community.
