Hadley and Leegomery ward candidates

Some candidates who belong to the same party chose to submit a combined manifesto.

Six candidates, three seats available

Andrew Benion, Jeremy Haigh, Sylvia Hall, Conservative:

Andrew, Jeremy and Sylvia are the Conservative campaigners for Hadley and Leegomery in May’s local elections. Andrew runs a utilities drilling business, Jeremy a property services advisory company and Sylvia is a retired NHS worker.

We are deeply concerned by the impact of the expansion of Hortonwood Industrial Estate. Concerns raised by the parish council are routinely ignored and planning conditions are not fully enforced. While we welcome the investment, we think it should be a positive for the community. Traffic congestion at peak times needs to be addressed. We will campaign to rephase the traffic lights to improve flow on major roads and junctions, and to have a dedicated right-hand turning lane on Britannia Way (between the Stadium Way and Leegate Avenue junctions).

We will continue to fight the Future Fit proposals. We believe both the A&E and Women’s and Children’s unit should remain at the PRH. This is NOT a party-political issue, we are ALL residents and we want services to benefit us all. Many residents have raised the issue of illegal and dangerous parking, not only around schools but also on residential estates. It was Conservative councillors who forced the Labour-run council to apply for parking enforcement powers. We will make sure those powers are used to benefit the entire community. You have THREE votes – please lend them to us on May 2 to make Hadley and Leegomery a better and safer place.

Leon Murray (incumbent), Gemma Offland, Malcolm Smith (incumbent), Labour:

Leon Murray, Gemma Offland and Malcolm Smith are proud to be candidates in the borough elections for Hadley and Leegomery.

All have been involved delivering the great progress that has been made across Hadley and Leegomery in recent years. Their hard work has helped deliver investment for the redevelopment of the Hadley centre, protect the clean-up team despite Tory opposition and help ensure many roads and footpaths across the ward have been repaired. They also helped secure funding for LED lighting to be installed and funding for Millbrook Primary School and Nursery.

They will continue to fight hard for Hadley and Leegomery including pushing for further investment to resolve traffic issues around Hadley Learning Community and making sure Hadley and Leegomery gets its fair share of future funding for roads and footpaths across the ward.

Leon, Gemma and Malcolm are committed to fighting to protect services at the Princess Royal Hospital.

Putting residents at the heart of the community and proud to live in the area, Leon, Gemma and Malcolm with the help of the local community, will continue to work together to further improve the ward.

If elected they are committed to being available for residents all year round.
