Four candidates, two seats available.

Some candidates who belong to the same party chose to submit a combined manifesto.

Rae Evans (incumbent) and Kelly Middleton, Labour

Kelly Middleton and Rae Evans

Rae and Kelly are proud to represent Woodside and are committed to providing a strong voice for all residents.

Rae has represented the area since 2011 and since then has secured record investment in local roads, footpaths and parking for residents. Her campaign to stop the illegal traveller site on Newcomen Way ensured this green space is protected.

Kelly is passionate about the place she calls home. That is why she has fought alongside Rae to ensure Woodside is included in the £1million fund which will be resident-led to ensure older parts of the estate are improved. Kelly is a manager at a mental health and addiction recovery service and volunteers at the Park Lane Centre. Alongside Rae, Kelly has ensured the future of services at the Park Lane Centre for young families and residents.

Rae and Kelly continue to tackle fly-tipping and organise community litter-picks. They are out and about every week in Woodside working with residents to make the estate a better place to live. With your support they can achieve so much more.

If elected, they promise to:

  • Improve the standards of street cleaning and use enforcement to stop fly-tipping.

  • Support the Park Lane Centre as the heart of Woodside.

  • Provide regular surgeries to hear the views of residents.

  • Bring new money into Woodside to revitalise older streets and work with the council and police to clamp down on antisocial behaviour and the problem of rogue landlords.

Alan Scott, Conservative

Alan Edward Scott, of the Conservative Party, is also standing as a candidate in this ward. He did not provide a manifesto.

Greg Spruce, Liberal Democrat

Greg Spruce

Woodside has suffered for too long: Not enough police; Fly tipping and littering out of control; A&E closure. It is time to demand better.

I want to give Woodside a strong voice. I live in Woodside, I see the issues for myself as I go about getting the kids to school, taking my spaniel Ginny for walks or popping to the OneStop.

I work as a department lead and teacher in a large college. I see for myself the potential in young people and how these opportunities are being taken away from them by inactive politicians.

My three priorities are driven by conversations with residents over the past two years:

  • Fly tipping and litter – action to tackle the scourge of fly tipping and more community ownership of keeping Woodside a nice place to live.

  • A&E – continue to fight against the closures of Princess Royal’s A&E and Women and Children’s Unit.

  • Police – fight for Woodside’s fair share of police on the ground.

I want to speak for those who feel disaffected and under represented. I love Woodside and I won’t see it left behind. Please vote for me on May 2 if you, too, demand better for Woodside.
