Wrockwardine ward candidates

Two candidates, one seat available.

Paul Davis, Labour

Paul lives in Wrockwardine Ward and has worked at Telford College for the past 25 years teaching young adults from across our community. He is proud of his community and is a volunteer snow warden and active trade unionist for UNISON.

Paul pledges to:

• Address traffic concerns, specifically speeding through our villages.

• Campaign to tackle fly-tipping in rural areas.

• Raise awareness to combat theft, antisocial behaviour and violent crime.

Paul will continue to campaign hard to reverse the proposed closure of our 24/7 A&E and the Women’s and Children’s Centre at the PRH and save this vitally-important part of the National Health Service in our community.

An enthusiastic community campaigner, Paul believes it is important to be accessible to residents and, if elected, would hold regular street surgeries so that residents can easily raise any local issues or specific problems.

If elected, Paul will work hard for all the residents in Wrockwardine ward.

Jacqui Seymour (incumbent), Conservative

Wrockwardine ward is a large, mostly rural area covering the parish council areas of Little Wenlock, Rodington, the rural parts of Wrockwardine and, more recently, the West ward of Lawley.

I have been the councillor for the Wrockwardine ward since 1997 and, throughout that time, have represented residents’ interests on a wide range of issues. Many of these have been personal to the resident but a large number have involved planning matters which are becoming of increasing concern in this beautiful ward as large and seemingly uncontrolled development is allowed to take place in unsuitable areas. I, together with my fellow Conservative members, will continue to fight to get control of this situation.

Linked with unsuitable development is the pressure this puts on rural and local roads which currently get minimal attention. This is another area in which I will continue to put pressure and a Conservative administration would seek to make changes.

Residents are also much concerned about what is happening with local health and hospital issues. I will continue to fight with my colleagues to improve local conditions and ensure that all residents receive the best possible medical and social care attention.
