The Shropshire Council results were announced on Saturday and on Sunday it was the turn of the local town and parish councils across the county.

A bad week got worse for Peter Nutting, who lost his seats on both Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council.

Mr Nutting, who had been the Conservative leader of the unitary council, was defeated by Liberal Democrat Rob Wilson in both elections.

Shrewsbury mayor Gwen Burgess also lost her town council seat to Lib Dem Bernie Bentick, mirroring the Shropshire Council result, with Green Julian Dean expected to become mayor.
