A Shropshire couple are celebrating their first step on the property ladder after moving into a new home through a local housing scheme which allows them to buy a part share in the home.

Samantha Jones, partner Liam White and five-month-old baby Archie have moved into their house at Monarch Fields in Donnington, by using Wrekin Housing Trust shared ownership InReach scheme.

The scheme allows people to rent a property at an affordable cost with the opportunity to buy a share.

Miss Jones said: "We were really pleased to get this house, especially as we knew there would be a lot of people interested in it."

The housing trust said there had been 20 applications for the three bedroom house.

A spokeswoman for the trust, said there would be more than 30 houses and nearly 25 apartments available in Monarch Fields.
